Meet Our Arlington Heights Eye Doctors

An optometrist is a health care professional who has earned a degree of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) after completing a course of study at an approved college of optometry. Optometrists begin their training with completion of a Bachelor’s degree program at an undergraduate college followed by four years at an accredited college of optometry.

Tim P. Kret, OD

Tim P. Kret, O.D. is a founder and senior partner of First Eye Care. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Arlington, Dr. Kret finished his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in 1975. He has completed extensive training in the treatment and management of eye infections, injuries, and ocular disease from the University of Houston College of Optometry and is also certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist by the Texas Optometry Board.

The Pennsylvania College of Optometry has recognized Dr. Kret and his staff as a teaching facility for optometric students. His areas of interest include medical optometry, ocular surface disease, and computer vision syndrome.

Dr. Kret has been a clinical investigator for the VISX Excimer Laser for FDA certification. He has also participated in Clinical Investigations with both Alcon Laboratories and the FDA regarding contact lens safety and solutions.

Dr. Kret is professionally affiliated with the American Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and serves on the Board of Directors with of First Eye Care, Inc and is the current President and CEO. Dr. Kret has volunteered his time to the Essilor Vision Foundation helping service under privileged children with free examinations and glasses. He is currently on the advisory Board of the Essilor Vision Foundation.

Viren Choksi OD, MPH (Dr. V)

Dr. Viren Choksi, also known as Dr. V, specializes in Vision Therapy for adults and youth. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelors in Biology. He went on to pursue his masters in Public Health from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After a couple of years of working in Philadelphia, he decided to pursue his optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

He was awarded Clinical Excellence in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy during his time in optometry school. He completed an externship at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia with an emphasis on traumatic brain injury vision therapy and evaluations. We are excited that Dr. V is bringing his unique background and expertise to Optical On The Bricks.

In his free time, Dr. V likes to play soccer, basketball and table tennis. He and his wife, Priti, also love to travel.
